What Kinds of Fats Are There?

There are many kinds. The four I will focus on are saturated fat, trans fat, monounsaturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat. The first two are “bad” fats, and the second two are “good” fats. These fats play a key role in getting out of the Gain Weight, Lose Weight Cycle that so many of us are in.

What Makes These Fats Good and Bad?

Simple. The bad fats increase your chances for disease, while the good fats reduce your risk. One of the keys to a healthy diet, and getting out of the gain weight, lose weight cycle, is to replace the bad with the good. Also it is important to mention that avoiding trans fat altogether is a great idea.

If you have high cholesterol, it is important to limit the amount of cholesterol you eat, but know that dietary cholesterol is not as bad as it is portrayed. Cholesterol in the blood stream is what counts, and the biggest factor on the cholesterol is your blood stream is the mix of fats you eat. Not the amount of cholesterol you take in from food.

There is plenty else, such as a strong exercise program, a good nutrition plan, but all of it with moderation and phased in so that it is realistic and MAINTAINABLE. That is the key the key point in breaking the cycle that so many people overlook. Anybody can go through a crash course of a couple weeks of hard training. It takes smart planning and well executed changes to really affect your lifestyle.
