Lose Weight in a Week – Is it Really Possible?

Once you have clarified what your motivation is to lose weight in a week, you can then set about choosing the approach you will take and setting a goal or expectation for the week.

So If it is for a bet or challenge then the expectations are quite possibly already set, ie to lose 3 pounds. Similarly if it is to fit into some cloths to wear to a special event, you might have an idea of how many pounds you need to lose to achieve that.

In both of these cases, if the motivation is just for a short term goal then there is not much preparation required. But none the less you still need to make sure you are careful not to harm your body. And lets face it if you are doing it for a bet or special event, you want to be able to enjoy yourself at the end of the week.

Putting yourself through a starvation type of diet is going to leave you feeling tired and probably grumpy. Not quite the best way to enjoy the occasion!

If on the other hand you want to kick start a longer term objective, or are desperate to lose some weight, a bit more planning is definitely a good idea, so that you can set yourself up for success.

In an effort to keep this article simple, I will briefly outline the basic steps to lose weight in a week and still keep your sanity AND humor!

1. Cut out sugar and processed fats.

2. Drink a glass of water 10 to 15 minutes before any meal or snack.

3. Cut out all fizzy drinks and sodas, have a glass of lemon flavored water instead.

4. No alcohol. Its just for a week!

5. Eat Breakfast within an hour of waking up. Make it something like low fat yogurt and fresh fruit, brown or wholegrain toast, or cereal that is low in sugar and fats (tip anything with lots of rolled oats is great)

6. Have a healthy snack at morning tea. A low fat and sugar protein bar, a banana, or some sliced up carrots.

7. Eat a balanced lunch like a salad sandwich (brown or wholegrain bread), or a chicken salad, no dressing or skin on the chicken. Make sure you have a serve of meat or meat substitute for lunch so that you can have a smaller serve for dinner.

8. Another healthy snack for afternoon tea.

9. Eat dinner early, at least 3 hours before you go to bed. Have a colorful meal. That means when you are shopping get some red, green, yellow, orange etc veggies. If you do this you will automatically be getting a great variety of natural nutrients. Have a meat or meat substitute with your dinner.

10. After dinner, relax. Your body needs its sleep, give it the best chance to do that. You will burn more fat with a good nights sleep.

The last thing you can do is to exercise. If you really want to loose weight in a week, (or inches of your fat/waist line) try to raise your heart rate with a run, swim or cycle for at least 30 minutes a day, an hour would be better for maximum results.

Go on give it a go, its just a week in your life, you never know, if you can lose weight in a week, you might just get addicted to weight loss!
