Lose Weight Post Pregnancy

Having a baby can be an extraordinary experience for mum, baby and all family and friends involved. The body can take mass physical trauma when during the pregnancy and delivery, so it’s important that when you lose weight post pregnancy, you exercise patience, healthy eating and light exercise when returning to your post baby figure, whilst at the same time having the energy to cope with the new demands.

First, exercise when you feel right. There is nothing wrong with light exercise a short time after your pregnancy, but ensure you don’t push too hard as it can be damaging. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to be sedentary, but just gentle exercise like a brisk walk or a light jog will help you to lose weight and feel better about yourself immediately.

Avoid vigorous or sustained exercise until you have had your first check up and always be advised by your doctor before you do so. You don’t have to explained the benefit of exercise right now, but you any form of formal exercise will do the trick.

Exercising doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym for long hours, as I am sure you’re already aware time probably does permit that. Be creative when thinking of some exercise – use stairs at home to run up and down a few times, grab a good Yoga, Pilate’s, Aerobics DVD or go for a walk with your baby. Make your exercise time enjoyable.

If you want to lose weight post pregnancy, don’t forget your diet. It’s 95% of any weight loss plan, and if you don’t get that right you can forget about the effects of exercise. This is simple really, stick to a balanced healthy diet that will help shed the pounds and nutritionally assist you body to recover, whilst still having the energy for your new born.
